Yamaha's 2021 MOTUL FIM Superbike World champion Toprak Razgatlioglu was the fastest rider in the series' first pre-season test of the year at Spain's Jerez circuit this week.

The Turkish rider posted a fastest time of 1m38.269s on day two, just shy of the circuit lap record and less than a tenth clear of Kawasaki's six-time champion Jonathan Rea, with 2022 winner Alvaro Bautista third for Ducati.

The front-runners weren't without drama however, with Bautista crashing his new machine on Wednesday, and Razgatlioglu following suit the next morning, though recovering to set the fastest time of the test in the final afternoon.

With the top-three covered by less than two tenths of a second, Bautista's teammate Michael Ruben Rinaldi was next up in fourth ahead of Rea's teammate Alex Lowes.

Dominique Aegerter, who won the 2022 Supersport World Championship and the MotoE crown was sixth quickest and the fastest rookie on his GYTR GRT Yamaha, just a fraction behind Lowes and 0.087s ahead of Razgatlioglu's teammate Andrea Locatelli.

MotoGP convert Danilo Petrucci was eighth on his Barni Spark Ducati ahead of Honda's Iker Lecuona, with Remy Gardner, another to switch from MotoGP to WorldSBK, completed the top-10 for GYTR GRT Yamaha.
