NWES unveils record round one entry, SpeedFest up next in June

Thursday, May 12 2022

A record-breaking 37 stock cars will line up for the opening NASCAR Whelen Euro Series (NWES) round in Valencia this weekend (14/15 May) ahead of the championship's headline visit to Brands Hatch for American SpeedFest 9 on 11/12 June.

This year's entry includes Israel's Alon Day, who is aiming to become the first driver to win four EuroNASCAR Pro Championships. Day is returning with the successful PK Carsport team which helped carry him to the 2020 NWES title, and he'll be hoping to add to his 27 series victories as the season progresses.

Day is part of a strong EuroNASCAR Pro class, which features no fewer than 10 previous victors. Amongst these is Belgium's Marc Goosenns, a competitor with plenty of Brands Hatch pedigree, including winning the Formula Ford Festival at the venue back in 1991.

Others to look out for will include Lucas Luhr, a newcomer to the series this year. The German has twice been class winner at Le Mans and was formerly part of Audi's crack endurance racing works efforts in the 2000s.

NWES will top the Brands Hatch bill at SpeedFest with four races next month, with two outings each for the EuroNASCAR Pro and Euro NASCAR 2 classes. The vast majority of the entry will contest all four races with two drivers sharing a car. The main EuroNASCAR Pro on SpeedFest Sunday will be preceded by the event's traditional opening ceremony.

SpeedFest will also feature a tailored support race programme with a distinct American theme, including Legends and the Pickup Truck Championship plus Bernie's V8s and Historic Outlaws. On top of that, there will be American NASCAR demos, US car displays and much more on a fun-fuelled weekend for all the family.

Kids go FREE to all events at Brands Hatch, with no admission charge for under-13s. Adult entry is from just £20 online. For more info click here.
