2022 Ginetta Junior Rookie champion Will Macintyre will contest
the final rounds of this year's GB4 Championship with his current
team Elite Motorsport at Donington Park on 15/16
October.
Fifteen-year-old Macintyre is contesting his first full season out
of karts with Elite and wrapped up the Ginetta Junior Rookie title
with five races remaining. He has an outside chance of claiming the
outright title at Brands Hatch this weekend (8-9 Oct) having scored
13 overall podiums including five victories.
The three races at Donington later this month will mark Will's
maiden single-seater races, at the Leicestershire venue in which he
raced at for the first time just six months ago in the opening
rounds of Ginetta Junior, having competed in the four-race 2021
Ginetta Junior Winter Series last November with Elite.
Macintyre will join Elite's GB4 regular Jack Sherwood at
Donington. Jack himself moved up from a maiden Ginetta Junior
season last year into single-seaters and currently lies fifth in
the Driver's standings. Sherwood remains in mathematical contention
for the inaugural GB4 title having claimed nine podiums, including
two wins, in the last 13 races.
Will Macintyre said: "I'm very happy to be given
the opportunity by Eddie and Elite to race a GB4 car - it's an
opportunity I couldn't turn down!
"Hopefully we can have similar success in the last rounds at
Donington as we experienced in the Ginetta this year."
Team Principal Eddie Ives said: "I'm really
excited to be putting Will straight from Juniors into a GB4
car.
"He's shown his ability to progress quickly in his first full year
of car racing, making a big impression in Juniors this season with
some exceptional driving.
"Next Thursday's test day will be the first time he's driven a GB4
but I'm confident with his ability that we can have a fun and
competitive weekend."
