Chilton joins Ciceley Motorsport for 2021 BTCC

Tuesday, January 12 2021

Tom Chilton will switch to rear-wheel-drive BMW machinery for his assault on the 2021 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, after it was announced today (Tuesday) that he would race one of Ciceley Motorsport's new 330i M Sports.

Chilton first raced in the BTCC in 2002 and, aside from a five-season stint in the World Touring Car Championship, has been a regular fixture on the grid ever since.

The race-winner will join Adam Morgan in the Ciceley's two-car line-up as the team switches from the Mercedes A-Class machines its used since 2014 to the new BMWs.

Chilton said: "I'm really looking forward to joining Ciceley Motorsport in their new era. They are a great team, and the BMW will be ultra-competitive.  Adam [Morgan] and I get along really well and we will work as hard as required with team engineer Steve Farrell to ensure we're at the front of the pack straight away. I've made no secret of my desire to change my lucky racing number 3 into the coveted number 1 and truly believe that the team and will provide me with the platform required to achieve my aim."

Chilton's deal follows the announcement this morning that the championship will boast a capacity 29-car grid for 2021, including an expanded two-car effort from Toyota's official team, alongside the works backed entries from Honda and BMW.
