In under two weeks' time (8/9 October) the 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car champion will be crowned at Brands Hatch, as the series returns to the magical Grand Prix circuit this autumn. More twists at Silverstone have left the title race perfectly poised, with just seven points separating the top three in the standings. With three races remaining, it's going to be a wild ride!

Reigning champion Ash Sutton tops the standings with 345 points after a very productive weekend at Silverstone, where the NAPA Racing UK driver finished sixth, fourth and second. However, he is by no means comfortable…

That's because second-placed BMW driver Jake Hill is only five points behind and in the form of his life after winning race two and finishing highly all weekend as the championship heads to his home track. Meanwhile race three winner Tom Ingram lies third for Hyundai and only two points further back from Hill. It sets everything up for a brilliant bout between the three young stars.

"It's like it's been scripted all year! It couldn't be tighter," said Sutton. "You've got a great combination of front-wheel drive cars and rear-wheel drive cars, and Brands Hatch is our home circuit for the team. Silverstone is our weakest circuit and we've had a mega weekend so I'm looking forward to Brands."

BMW driver Colin Turkington, who was leading the championship going into Silverstone, had a miserable weekend by contrast. He is 27 points off the front and has dropped back to fourth in the standings. Having previously been in the top-10 in every race he'd finished in 2022, Silverstone was full of bad luck. Being spun to the back in the first race and then collected in a crash brought about only his second retirement of the year. The Ulsterman recovered to 13th in race two but was involved in an incident with Adam Morgan in race three which meant he stayed in the lower points, finishing 12th.

With 67 points still on offer, all four drivers are more than capable of taking the plaudits and the full Grand Prix circuit always makes for a dramatic finale.

As well as the BTCC title decider, there's a host of support race categories to be decided too, including tin tops, GTs and single-seaters. The stakes will be high in every race, so this will be an event not to miss.
