Jake Hill rose to the top in Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship Free Practice 2, with a best time of 1m56.741s on the Snetterton 300 circuit this afternoon. Hill's best effort was enough to edge out morning pace setter Tom Ingram in blisteringly hot conditions at the Norfolk venue.

Hill's ROKiT MB Motorsport BMW 330e M Sport lapped the challenging layout 13 times during the 40-minute session, with the quickest of his times proving to be 0.116s quicker than Ingram's. This was a reversal of the Free Practice 1 top-two in which Ingram headed Hill on the leaderboard.

For a second session in succession Hill and Ingram were slightly clear of the rest, but Stephen Jelley narrowed the gap from the chasing pack to first down in the lead Team BMW machine. Jelley was 0.303s off Hill's leading time, and almost a further three tenths clear of Daniel Lloyd in fourth.

Daniel Rowbottom completed the top-five, with Ash Hand just behind him as he produced another solid performance in his maiden BTCC season. Two experienced names followed in the order, with Jason Plato seventh in his final BTCC Free Practice session at Snetterton ahead of Tom Chilton.

Four-time champion Colin Turkington, who will contest his 500th race this weekend, was ninth fastest, just ahead of Bobby Thompson who rounded out the top-10.
