Kwik Fit BTCC unveils complete 2021 entry list

Thursday, April 22 2021

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship has unveiled this year's full season entry list during its official Season Launch at Silverstone this morning (Thursday).

The stellar entry list includes four multiple champions, and is spearheaded by reigning champion Ashley Sutton, who will race one of Laser Tools Racing's Infiniti Q50s for a second season in succession. He will be joined in a three-car line-up by Aiden Moffat and Carl Boardley.

Other superstar drivers on the grid include four-time champion Colin Turkington, one again racing a works BMW 330i M Sport as he aims to wrest back the title and claim a record-breaking fifth crown. Turkington is joined once more by Tom Oliphant, whilst Stephen Jelley steps up to the works team, returning to the outfit with which he was a race winner in 2009.

There are two returning champions too in the form of Jason Plato, who returns to the driving seat of his Vauxhall Astra following a sabbatical in 2020, and Gordon Shedden who is back at the Team Dynamics squad with which he's won the title three times before. Plato will be paired with Dan Lloyd at Power Maxed Racing and Shedden links up with Dan Rowbottom.

The grid will feature plenty of intriguing story lines too, not least of which an all-new, expanded driving line-up for Toyota Gazoo Racing UK. Rory Butcher joins to lead the Japanese manufacturer's factory assault on the championship with Sam Smelt in the second car.

Toyota's previous star Tom Ingram switches to one of Excelr8 Motorsport's Hyundais for 2021, alongside Chris Smiley, Jack Butel and Rick Parfitt.

Other changes to the grid for 2021 include Team HARD's switch to newly built Cupras, for Jack Goff, Glynn Geddie, Aron Taylor-Smith and Nicolas Hamilton. Meanwhile, Ciceley Motorsport has acquired two BMW 330i M Sports for Adam Morgan and Tom Chilton.

There's new management for Motorbase performance too, as the team runs from the same stable as MB Motorsport for the first time. Jake Hill and Ollie Jackson will drive the MB cars, whilst Andy Neate and Sam Osborne race the Racing with Wera & Photon Group branded machines.

BTC Racing is back with a three Honda Civic Type Rs as well, with former title challenger Josh Cook now joined by Jade Edwards and Michael Crees.
