Euan Hankey topped the opening Intelligent Money British GT Championship session of the weekend at Brands Hatch this morning, lapping the Grand Prix circuit in 1m24.751s to lead the way in Free Practice 1.

Driving the 7TSIX McLaren 720S he shares with Mia Flewitt, Hankey's performance came during a strong session for GT3 machines from the British manufacturer. McLarens claimed four of the top five positions in the standings in all.

The outlier towards the head of the order was the RAM Racing Mercedes-AMG of championship leader Ian Loggie and Callum Macleod which ran second, just under a tenth behind Hankey. Morgan Tillbrook and Marcus Clutton completed the top-three in the second McLaren ahead of the similar machines of Nick Halstead/Jamie Stanley and Stewart and Lewis Proctor.

Richard Williams and Sennan Fielding were fastest in the GT4 class, after completing a quickest tour of the GP loop in 1m33.046s.

There was a shortened amount of running time following a red flag stoppage after Ed McDermott and John Ferguson went off at Hawthorns.
