Andrew Irwin kicked off today's Bennetts British Superbike Championship raceday at Cadwell Park by setting the fastest lap of the weekend so far onboard the SYNETIQ BMW, firing ahead of local hero Lee Jackson by 0.075s in the third free practice session.
Just 0.075s separated the pair at the top of the times, with Danny Buchan continuing his run of form from yesterday to complete the top three with Leon Haslam on the VisionTrack Kawasaki in close contention.
Peter Hickman surged up into the top five for the FHO Racing BMW team in the final five minutes, nudging Bradley Ray back a position with the leading six contenders setting a time inside the existing lap record.
Jason O'Halloran was the leading McAMS Yamaha in seventh place just ahead of yesterday's pacesetter Tommy Bridewell on the Oxford Products Racing Ducati.
Takumi Takahashi and Rory Skinner completed the top ten ahead of this afternoon's final free practice session before the build up to Omologato Superpole and the eBay Sprint race.
