Supercar showdown kicks off awesome August at Brands Hatch

Sunday, July 28 2019

Kent is set for two stunning days of supercar action when the British GT Championship returns for a scorching summer outing on the legendary Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.

Race-prepared performance machinery from Aston Martin, Bentley, McLaren, Lamborghini, Porsche and more will surge around the iconic former F1 circuit in an epic two-hour endurance race on Sunday 4 August. British GT is the UK's leading supercar-based racing series and features lots of Le Mans 24 Hours style drama including pit stops, driver changes, and strategic battles.

A fantastic line-up of drivers is taking part in British GT this year, including several drivers from Aston Martin's crack World Endurance Championship: Danes Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorensen, plus Britain's Jonny Adam.

Other well-known names on the grid include those of Bentley's Seb Morris and Rick Parfitt Jr. Morris is known outside motor racing for appearing on the reality television programme Celebrities Go Dating, whilst Parfitt is the son of the Status Quo rocker whose name he shares. Kelvin Fletcher of Emmerdale fame will be in action too behind the wheel of an Aston Martin.

At the head of the championship, there is just half a point separating the two leading Lamborghinis. 2004 British GT Champion Jonny Cocker and Sam De Haan are leading the way, but only marginally from factory driver Phil Keen and his co-driver Adam Balon, the founder of Innocent Drinks.

British GT cars will bring a real wow factor to the Fawkham circuit with growling engine notes, flame-spitting exhausts, and sleek aerodynamic bodywork.

The headline British GT action will be complemented by three races across the weekend from the BRDC British F3 Championship, the UK's leading single-seater racing series. BRDC British F3 is an established proving ground for young F1 hopefuls, with recent graduates including McLaren's latest F1 star Lando Norris.

Additional entertainment will be provided by the MINI CHALLENGE, featuring the fastest tin tops in the country outside British Touring Cars, plus VW and Ginetta racing too.

Tickets are available in advance priced from £20 for adults, with free admission for children under 13. For more information or to book, click here
