Brands Hatch GP summer scorcher beckons next for DTM

Monday, July 22 2019

The full Brand Hatch Grand Prix circuit is the next stop for Germany's DTM touring car championship, with two races scheduled across 10/11 August, featuring stunning silhouette racing machines from Audi, BMW, and Aston Martin.

2017 series champion Rene Rast leads the way ahead of the Kent circuit's summer weekend, following a sublime season in which he's claimed three wins already for Audi Sport and stepped onto the podium thrice more for good measure.

The German ace leads fellow Audi racer Nico Muller by 22 points, but there is still all to play for ahead of the Brands Hatch event with 25 points available for a win, plus bonuses available in qualifying. The DTM stars will race once on both the Saturday and Sunday of the event, with a separate qualifying session each day to determine the grid.

The leading Audi's are being pursued relentlessly by BMW's Marco Wittmann, himself a three-time winner in 2019. Others to look out for at the Brands Hatch event will include 2012 champion Bruno Spengler, who claimed a first win in two years at the Norisring earlier this month, whilst 2013 champion Mike Rockenfeller - a former winner at Brands Hatch - won the most recent round in Assen.

Audi's Jamie Green is the lead Brit in the standings, sitting ninth despite missing a round through injury earlier in the year. The Leicestershire ace has climbed onto the podium twice so far this season, rediscovering his form after a relatively disappointing 2018.

Ex-F1 driver Paul di Resta will spearhead Aston Martin's DTM effort as the British manufacturer competes in the championship on home soil for the first time. Both he and fellow Briton Jake Dennis will be aiming to pick up a solid haul of points and impress the home crowd as the R Motorsport squad which runs the operation continues to find its feet in the DTM.

In addition to two DTM races, the revolutionary W Series for female single-seater hopefuls will crown its maiden champion, with Britain's Jamie Chadwick hopeful of making history. There will be a special demonstration run from the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing F1 team too, with Scottish ace David Coulthard behind the wheel.

Sunday tickets for the DTM event, featuring F1 demos from Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and the W Series season finale, are available in advance from £30 with FREE entry for under 13s. For more information and to book, please call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
