Ex-F1 star Di Resta joins Aston Martin in DTM

Thursday, February 14 2019

Former Grand Prix racer Paul Di Resta will return to the DTM German touring car championship, which visits Brands Hatch on 10-11 August, to spearhead Aston Martin's maiden appearance in the series this year.

The 32-year-old Scot, who won Sunday's headline DTM race at Brands Hatch last year is a former DTM champion, and makes the switch to the R-Motorsport-run Aston Martin squad after a long association with Mercedes-AMG in the series.

Di Resta said: "We had a 20-minute chat over a cup of coffee in the paddock last year, and I was immediately convinced of their ambition and passion for this project. After Mercedes' withdrawal last year, R-Motorsport's Aston Martin announcement really lifted everyone's spirits - everyone's so eager to be part of this and, believe me, they mean serious business.

"The whole organisation is totally professional and 100 per cent focused - I think we can do this."

The DTM returns to Brands Hatch on 10-11 August this year for a double-header meeting with a race on both the Saturday and Sunday.
