World Rally Champions M-Sport to attend Oulton Park rally

Tuesday, October 30 2018

Reigning World Rally Championship-winning Team M-Sport will have a presence at Oulton Park's season-ending Neil Howard Memorial Stage Rally on Saturday 3 November, with an appearance from its championship-leading Ford Fiesta WRC.

The car in question currently leads this year's World Rally Championship (WRC), in the hands of Sebastien Ogier, who heads to the final event of the season in Australia in mid-November with a chance to claim a sixth succesive crown.

This means that visitors to Oulton Park this weekend are in for a real treat as they can take a closer look at one of the WRC's current-spec 'big aero' machines, as driven to victory by Ogier in this year's Wales Rally GB.

Other top class Ford interest will be provided by local man Alex Laffey who will actually take to the stages in his M-Sport-prepared Fiesta R5. Laffey finished a close runner-up in this year's British Rally Championship, and will be aming to finish his most succesful season in the sport to date on a high.

M-Sport's involvment in the event adds further prestige to a popular end-of-year fixture at the Cheshire circuit in which has cemented itself as a firm favourite.

In addition to the treat of seeing M-Sport's current WRC challenger on display, a wide variety of cars will take part in the rally itself, ranging from modern specials to retro favourites. There will even be an appearance from ex-British Touring Car Championship racer Paul O'Neill in a Mazda MX-5.
