Hickman & Irwin share spoils ahead of Bennetts BSB finale

Friday, October 12 2018

Peter Hickman and Glenn Irwin shared the spoils in today's free practice sessions ahead of this weekend's Bennetts British Superbike Championship title-deciding final round on the full Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch (12-14 October).

Hickman snatched the top spot from Josh Brookes in Free Practice 1, finishing 0.067s ahead, while Irwin (pictured), who missed much of the opening session but still recorded a fourth-place finish, took the second session by just 0.007s from Brands Hatch local Jake Dixon.

Championship leader Leon 'Pocket Rocket' Haslam missed the top 10 in the first session and finished sixth in Free Practice 2. Haslam, who crashed out in the final race of 2017 to hand a sixth title to Shane 'Shakey' Byrne, has a 61-point lead going into the weekend and will be keen to make amends for last year's disappointment.

The weekend's racing features three headline Bennetts BSB races - one tomorrow (Saturday) and two on Sunday - plus a full support line-up featuring Pirelli National Superstock 600/1000 and Dickies British Supersport, plus the ever-entertaining British Sidecars.

Tickets are available on the gate priced £20 tomorrow (Saturday) and £34 on Sunday, with discounts for teens (13-15) and seniors (65+). Children under 13 go free! For full details click here.
