British GT testing done, next up: Qualifying Day

Friday, March 30 2018

Oulton Park's major events season will ignite with a bang this weekend as the British GT Championship kicks off in earnest on Saturday (31 March) with practice and qualifying.

The British GT Championship boasts an incredible line-up across its two classes - GT3 and GT4 - with established stars from international motor racing joining the championship's Gentleman driver ranks on agrid which ranks amongst the best in UK motor racing.

Star cars will include stunning machines from local manufacturer Bentley, plus Aston Martin, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG, and other prestige manufacturers.

Local manufacturer Bentley blazed the trail in the first of Friday's two test sessions, with the Team Parker Racing Continental GT3 of Callum McLeod and Ian Loggie topping the time sheets. Later on, it was the Mercedes AMG of Lee Mowle and Yelmer Buurman that led the way.

In GT4, it was the Tolman Motorsport McLaren of Joe Osborne and David Pattison that led in the early afternoon, before Scott Malvern and Nick Jones headed proceedings in session two.

The British GT cars will return to action in a pair of hour-long practice sessions on Saturday morning, before four rapid qualifying runs in the afternoon. Co-headline action on the first full event day of the weekend will be provided by the BRDC British F3 Championship, which has its first race of the weekend in the afternoon.
