Haigh makes history in British GT qualifying

Flick Haigh became the first woman to qualify on outright pole position for a British GT Championship race, after setting the fastest time in the first of this afternoon's four qualifying sessions. Haigh's lap of 1m34.769s ensures that she and team mate Jonny Adam will start the first of Monday's two races from the head of the field.

The Optimum Motorsport Aston Martin duo will head the Bentley Continental GT3 of reigning champion Rick Parfitt Jr and Ryan Ratcliffe on the grid, with the similar machine of Ian Loggie and Callum McLeod just behind in third, following the first qualifying session for GT3 Am drivers.

The GT3 Pros were out next, and Adam and Haigh nearly made it a sensational double, with the former producing a super lap to go second. Lamborghini ace Phil Keen wasn't to be denied however - Keen and his driving partner Minshaw have a terrific record at Oulton Park and Keen duly delivered another blinder to claim race two pole position.

Aston Martin racer Marco Sorensen completed the top-three, just edging out his regular Le Mans team-mate Nicki Thiim.

In GT4, Finlay Hutchison claimed pole position for the opening race of the weekend, before his Equipe Verschuur team mate Daniel McKay gave them the double.

The British GT cars will star in two races on Easter Monday, each an hour in duration, with pit-stops driver changes, and plenty of drama.
