Bennetts BSB and BTCC headline packed Snetterton calendar

Wednesday, February 21 2018

Snetterton circuit has announced its 2018 calendar, which includes major championships, classic car events and festival events amongst a busy line-up of high-octane entertainment almost every weekend from March until October. Tickets for most events are now on sale from £12, with free admission to under-13s.

Major championships head to Norfolk

Britain's biggest national racing championships will head to Snetterton this season, with the new-look Bennetts British Superbike Championship arriving on 15-17 June. Reigning champion Shane 'Shakey' Byrne will be aiming for his seventh title, and third in a row, but will face tough opposition from rivals Leon Haslam and Josh Brookes. Cambridge's Luke Mossey will be aiming to get amongst the trio, having taken his maiden race win last year and leading the standings heading into his home round.

The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship features one of the most exciting grids in years, with Bishop Stortford's Ashley Sutton defending his title with the Buntingford-based BMR Subaru team. Newmarket's Michael Caine makes his full time return to the championship with Team HARD this season, and the series visits Snetterton on 28/29 July.

The crowd-pleasing British Truck Racing event returns on 8/9 September, for a family-friendly fixture featuring spectacular racing from the giants of motorsport. There's a packed support race programme too, plus a plethora of off-track activities for all ages, including thrill-rides, fun fairs and show trucks.

An early season fixture not to be missed is the British GT and Formula 3 Championship double-header on 26/27 May Bank Holiday weekend. A huge grid of supercars will race twice on the Sunday, and both days will include rounds of the BRDC British F3 Championship, featuring a field of Grand Prix hopefuls.

Festivals celebrating both the fast and the past

The Vintage Motorsport Festival is back for another golden day on Sunday 23 September. Featuring cars from the early days of motoring, a more pioneering and heroic spirit is recalled at this event, complete with off-track entertainment from a gentler age that includes cream teas and jazz music to set the mood.

Ford and Mini fans will have plenty to celebrate this season, with the Mini Festival returning on 12-13 May after a successful debut last year. It will feature a full programme of racing for both classic and modern Minis, plus displays and activities dedicated to the diminutive motoring icon. Also back is Ford Power Live on Sunday 14 October, for a late-season treat dedicated to the blue oval. Public track sessions, demonstrations, displays, trade stands and live music will all be on the bill.

There's more fast car fun at Petrol and Pistons on Sunday 16 September, when Snetterton will pay tribute to speed. Track action will be headlined by Time Attack, a high-speed competition for the fastest lap of the circuit, plus public track time and performance-oriented demonstrations. Displays, stands, competitions and more can be found off-track.

In addition to these highlights, there's a wealth of club racing action throughout the season, including the unique Citroën 2CV 24-hour race on 18-19 August. Each event offers great value for money with admission from just £12, and under-13s go free to all of the year's fixtures.
