Oulton Park season closes with rally and fireworks this weekend

Wednesday, November 01 2017

Oulton Park's event season ends with a big bang this Saturday (4 November), with a spectacular fireworks display closing a day of thrilling motorsport with the Neil Howard Memorial Stage Rally.

The Cheshire venue will be transformed into a rally arena, with nine challenging stages comprising sections of the undulating circuit as well as pits, paddock, access roads, rally stage and a spectacular water splash. The rally will run into dark, when the routes will be lit by blazing headlights, glowing brake discs and flaming exhausts. Click here to download the stage maps.

A diverse selection of cars will appear on the stages. These include the classic rear-wheel-drive 1970s Ford Escorts and Talbot Sunbeam Lotuses as well as the popular 90s 4WD favourites Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Evo. There's plenty of diversity in the entries, including Mazda MX-5s for British Touring Car Championship drivers Paul O'Neill and Adam Morgan. Click here to download the entry list.

Visitors can also take part in a variety of off-track activities throughout the day. These include adrenaline-fuelled Toyota GT86 rally rides and drivers for those looking for a rare insight into the world of rallying. There's an Auto Solo in the paddock, where competitors will be showing off great feats of car control, and children can drive go-karts. Other activities include Scalextric, a fairground, face painting and a children's playground.

Once the rally has finished, renowned stunt driver Paul Swift will perform a breathtaking array of stunts between Old Hall and Cascades. This is sure to set the mood for a spectacular climax, when the bonfire will be lit and the event will end in style with a 'big bang' fireworks display close to the circuit's lakeside, where spectators will be afforded stunning views of the parkland setting as it is illuminated by the glow.

The Neil Howard Stage Rally and Fireworks is always a popular event, and this year a new traffic management system has been put in place to improve the flow of vehicles leaving the venue following a memorable day bringing the 2017 events season to a climax.

Tickets for the Neil Howard Stage Rally and Fireworks are available on the gate for £20 with free entry for under-13s. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
