British GT and British BRDC F3 coming to Snetterton this weekend

Sunday, May 21 2017

The British GT Championship and BRDC British F3 Championship are coming to Norfolk's Snetterton circuit this weekend (Saturday 27 - Sunday 28 May) to co-headline a thrilling weekend of stunning supercars and thrilling racing action.

Many of the world's most exclusive supercar manufacturers will enjoy representation on the British GT grid, with a whopping entry of more than 30 cars across two classes expected to compete in a pair of one-hour races. With pit-stops and driver changes, these races are often intriguing affairs with each car opting for a differing strategy. Star cars are expected to include a wealth of sumptuous machines from exotic European manufacturers Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini, alongside British favourites Aston Martin, McLaren, and Bentley.

The grid will include a number of cars not previously seen in British GT action at Snetterton, such as Mercedes' latest AMG GT, and the Ferrari 488.

Star drivers to look out for will include reigning champions Jonny Adam and Derek Johnston who will return behind the wheel of their TF Sport Aston Martin, though they're yet to win in 2017 so will be keen to taste their first victory champagne of the season imminently. Former British Touring Car Championship contender Sam Tordoff will be another to watch as he continues his transition from tin top star to GT expert.

Other drivers to look out for will include Bentley racer Rick Parfitt Jr, son of the late Status Quo guitarist, who shared victory with Seb Morris during the last round of the championship, whilst Lamborghini's Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen dominated the last double-header round of the championship at Oulton Park and will be eager for a repeat.

Young stars of British F3 gunning for glory

The BRDC British F3 Championship will co-headline with a full field of hungry youngsters seeking to impress on the long road to Grand Prix stardom.

Young Briton Enaam Ahmed currently heads the pack, following a hugely impressive start to the season with four wins in the opening six races, and he was a winner at Snetterton last season so there's every chance he will feature on the podium this weekend.

Others to watch will include promising American star Cameron Das who has claimed pole position in both of the season's qualifying sessions so far, whilst pre-season favourite, Cambridgeshire's Toby Sowery, is looking to get his campaign up and running after a string of misfortune to start the year.

The grid also includes Venezuelan Manuel Maldonado, cousin of Formula 1 race winner Pastor, whilst his team-mate Ben Hingeley is another British driver in the title hunt as he heads into the weekend third in the standings.

There will also be a huge support race bill including the MINI CHALLENGE, VW Racing Cup, VAG Trophy, and the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club.
