Lotus F1 cars star in the sun at Oulton Park Gold Cup

Monday, August 29 2016

Peter Horsman guided his Lotus 18/21 Grand Prix car to victory in the revived Historic Gold Cup, whilst Andy Middlehurst wowed fans in his ex-Jim Clark Lotus 43  at Oulton Park this afternoon (Monday) as the Cheshire circuit shone in the summer sunshine with a fantastic array of nostalgic delights on and off the track.

Horsman's Lotus was victorious in both of the weekend's Historic Grand Prix Car Association races, allowing the driver to make add his name to the new Historic Gold Cup roll of honour which recreates the spirit of the original award. Horsman was presented with the new trophy by former Jim Clark mechanic Bob Dance on the podium.

The Lotus celebrations continued following the presentations as Middlehurst guided his stunning Lotus 43 Grand Prix car around the circuit, resplendent in its iconic period green and gold livery, and powered by a BRM H16 engine.

There were plenty other thrills to be had throughout the day too, including a thrilling double Historic Touring Car victory for Warren Briggs, whilst Mark Dwyer and Stewart Whyte completed doubles in the Derek Bell Trophy and Super Touring Car races respectively.

There was much more on the track to enjoy, including stock car demonstrations, live music, car displays, military displays and much more.
