Lowes leads the times into Cadwell Park qualifying

Sunday, August 25 2013

Samsung Honda's Alex Lowes maintained his position at the top of the timesheets ahead of this afternoon's Datatag Extreme Qualifying at Cadwell Park as he set the pace in the final MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship free practice session.

Lowes had upped the pace since yesterday's afternoon session and was able to set the precedent this morning, edging out defending champion Shane 'Shakey' Byrne on the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki. The pair had been at the top of the times throughout the second half of free practice three and Josh Brookes closed in the final minutes to move third fastest on the Tyco Suzuki to move ahead of an improving James Ellison on the Milwaukee Yamaha.

PJ Jacobsen had another impressive performance this morning as he ended the session back in the top five heading off Tommy Bridewell who set the sixth fastest time on the Halsall Racing Kawasaki and Peter Hickman on the Lloyds British GBmoto Honda. The second purple Fireblade of Dan Linfoot had his session ended prematurely when he crashed unhurt at Mansfield with ten minutes of free practice three remaining.

Jon Kirkham continued to head the Buildbase BMW charge in eighth with his team-mate James Westmoreland in tenth as the pair continue to fight it out for a position in the Showdown after Donington Park with Samsung Honda's Ryuichi Kiyonari splitting the pair.
