BRDC F4 car to feature sophisticated Cosworth steering wheel

Wednesday, December 19 2012

Organisers of the BRDC Formula 4 Championship, MSV, have announced further details of its new MSV F4-013 car, which will feature a brand new CFW277 steering wheel made by leading manufacturer Cosworth.

Made from aluminium, the wheel features a rich 3.5" sunlight viewable TFT display which boasts high graphical resolution making it one of the most powerful dash displays on the market.

It also utilises moulded grip technology - based on F1 development - together with eight clearly visible and configurable shift lights and six permanently fitted switches, ergonomically positioned for driver comfort and practicality. In addition it boasts two optional rotary switches for functions such as map switch and traction control.

Simon Holloway from Cosworth said: "We're delighted to be a part of the new BRDC F4 Championship and are confident our new lightweight CFW277 steering wheel is going to be a superb addition to the MSV F4-013, which is easily the most sophisticated car for a series at this level.

"We've also designed the wheel to be very robust by using a reverse-battery system, over-voltage and load dump protection, an area we know is crucial to teams and drivers on a tight budget."

Giles Butterfield, Group Operations and Engineering Manager for MSV, added: "The Cosworth Group is a world leader in this area so we're very pleased to have them onboard. As well as being incredibly high-tech, the Cosworth wheel is still very easy to use and will give drivers fresh out of karting a real understanding of the equipment they can expect to find as they make their way up the ladder to Formula One."
