50 years of the Jaguar E-Type to be celebrated at Brands Hatch this weekend

Wednesday, June 29 2011

The legendary Jaguar E-Type celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and as part of the celebrations, over 40 of these classic cars will compete in two E-type Challenge races at Brands Hatch this weekend (1-3 July) as part of the HSCC Superprix.

A selection of famous names will be behind the wheel, including former BTCC Champion John Cleland, Ex-F1 driver and team owner Jackie Oliver, Barry 'Whizzo' Williams and Desire Wilson, the only woman to win an F1 race, the non-championship Aurora event held at Brands Hatch in 1980.

The races will be for 3.8 litre E-Types built prior to 1966. E-Types were recently voted the most beautiful car of all time by the Daily Telegraph, and a selection of vehicles will also be on display throughout the weekend at the Britten's Parade outside the Kentagon.

The first race for the E-Type Challenge will take place at 14.25 on Saturday and 15.15 on Saunday. Further races will come from the FIA Historic Formula One Championship featuring classic F1 cars from the 1970s and 1980s, as well as action from the mighty Group C cars of Le Mans from the same era.

Tickets for the HSCC Superprix are available from £17 for adults with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click the link below.
