Lowes topples Brookes in warm up at Cadwell Park

Monday, August 26 2013

Alex Lowes continued to set the pace in the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship warm up session at Cadwell Park as the home contender set the pace onboard the Samsung Honda ahead of Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes.

Brookes, who suffered a crash in yesterday's qualifying session, pushed his way to the top of the times in the early stages this morning, before James Ellison fired the Milwaukee Yamaha ahead with ten minutes remaining of the session.

Shane 'Shakey' Byrne then had a spell at the top of the times for the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki team until the session reached the final five minutes and Lowes put in a final run that put him back at the top ahead of his pole start for today's opening race.

Brookes put in a final lap in the closing minute that moved him into second ahead of Byrne whilst Tommy Bridewell leapt up the order on the Halsall Racing Kawasaki to fourth in the last five minutes dropping Ellison to fifth.

Peter Hickman was the fastest of the Lloyds British GBmoto Hondas in sixth with PJ Jacobsen splitting the team-mates as Dan Linfoot set to eighth fastest time. Chris Walker and Karl Harris rounded out the top ten for the Quattro Plant Bournemouth Kawasaki and PR Racing Kawasaki teams respectively.
