Club MSV launch Track and Race Academy with Tommy Hill

Thursday, April 05 2012

MotorSport Vision's in-house trackday organiser, Club MSV, is pleased to announce the launch of a new Track and Race Academy in association with reigning MCE Insurance British Superbike champion Tommy Hill.

The Academy, which will operate at Brands Hatch, Oulton Park, Cadwell Park and the new Snetterton 300 circuit, has been designed for riders of all abilities looking to improve their confidence and extract more performance from their bike, whether a first time trackday rider or aspiring club racer. The Track and Race Academy programme was developed in conjunction with Hill, and he will be attending many of the events to offer his unrivalled expertise and advice to everyone taking part.

Level One and Level Two of the Track Academy will teach track riding skills, focusing on areas such as cornering techniques, body positioning, braking / throttle control and weight transfer. Riders will be able to take advantage of six sessions of track time throughout the day, with one to one tuition from Club MSV's instructors and classroom sessions covering various riding techniques.

The Race Academy is designed to fully prepare riders for entering their first race and includes an ACU test to obtain the necessary race licence.

Tommy Hill is one of the most popular riders of his generation, and secured a maiden MCE BSB championship last October after an incredible last-lap duel with American John Hopkins. The 27-year-old made his British Superbike Championship debut in 2004, and has also competed in the World Superbike Championship. This weekend, he commences his MCE BSB title defence at Brands Hatch with the Swan Yamaha team.

Tommy said: "Being part of the Club MSV Track and Race Academy is a great way for me to pass over some of my circuit knowledge that I have collected over the years. Whether it's helping the riders to simply improve their cornering skills or how to approach each of the MSV circuits, I'm sure I can help everyone improve as a road rider, trackday rider or potential racer. I will be on hand to offer advice on the day of selected events and look forward to meeting and riding with customers on track!"

Club MSV Manager Alex Baker said: "Club MSV has always focused on helping customers to enjoy their first trackday experience. Our new Academy will really enable us to help riders rapidly improve their skills and advance through the trackday groups, or gain a race licence and go racing.

"We're thrilled to have Tommy involved with this project. Not only has he been great to work with but his knowledge has been invaluable in designing the events. I'm looking forward to the first Track and Race Academy and seeing everyone benefit from his experience and expertise!"
