Valour Racing confirm Daryl DeLeon and Danny Harrison in GB4

Wednesday, May 25 2022

Valour Racing will make its GB4 Championship debut at Donington Park this weekend (28/29 May), and has confirmed Radical racer Daryl DeLeon and sportscar contender Danny Harrison in a two-car line-up.

Filipino-British contender DeLeon is experiencing his second season of car racing, having contended in a handful of Radical SR1 events at the end of 2021 after turning 16. He immediately turned heads with a double win at Donington Park in September, including a triumph in the endurance race at the venue, and was also a class podium finisher at the Algarve Circuit in the Radical Intercontinental Cup.

The winning run has continued into 2022 as he joined Valour in the series, taking another victory during the first round of the SR1 season at Donington Park in April, finishing ahead of British F4 race winner Dougie Bolger, and a follow-up triumph at Brands Hatch last weekend.

DeLeon first sat in a kart in 2008, and his first race followed five years later at Rye House Kart Raceway. He's since become champion in the Bizkart Rental Championship and HKC Honda Clubman category, raced in the IAME Kartmaster World Finals, and taken wins in the finals for the Motorsport UK British Kart Championship and UKC Ultimate Karting Championship, plus winning the London Cup at Rye House.

British driver Harrison is also making his single-seater debut with Valour in GB4, after a successful early career in sports car racing.

The 21-year-old is one of the leading Britcar contenders of the past two years, having dominated the series in a Praga in 2020 with five race wins from the nine races. He backed up that performance by finishing second in class last year, with five podium finishes at the wheel of a Nissan GT-R GT3 machine.

Harrison's career has also seen him race Ford Fiestas, with multiple race wins at junior and senior level, and he was a podium finisher in the 2019 Ginetta GT5 Challenge.

He started karting at the age of eight, and climbed through the ranks to Super One and Formula Kart Stars, and became a lap record holder at Kimbolton.

DeLeon commented: "I can't wait to get going at Donington this weekend and make my single-seater debut in GB4 with Valour Racing. I've been looking to race single-seaters throughout my career, and to finally get the opportunity is so exciting. To do so with Valour is great too, we've been working together since the start of the year, our previous track record at Donington is excellent so it's great to be starting there. We'll need to build up our experience together in testing and see where we are come qualifying."

Harrison said: "It's a big change for me after a few years of GT racing and saloons, but I can't wait to get on track at Donington on Thursday and Friday. Testing will be my first ever time in a single-seater so there's lots of learning to do, but I love a good challenge and I'm looking forward to seeing how I compare against drivers that have been doing most of the season. I'm really grateful to Rhys and Ben at Valour for the opportunity and hopefully this can be the start of an exciting new career opportunity for me!"

Valour Racing Team Manager Rhys Terry said: "We're really pleased to confirm Daryl and Danny in our GB4 team for Donington Park. We know both drivers well, Daryl has been really strong with us in Radical SR1s this year and his previous form at Donington is very promising. I also worked with Danny in karting around a decade ago, so it's great to be working with him again in a new discipline. Both are new to single-seaters, as is the team, so we've got some thorough run plans to do in testing, but we're looking forward to mixing with the championship's established teams and drivers and seeing how we compare from the off."
