Bennetts BSB: Ryde leads Jackson in opening practice session

Friday, May 20 2022

Kyle Ryde got his home round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park off to a flying start this afternoon as the Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha topped the times by 0.085s ahead of Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Kawasaki's Lee Jackson.

As the opening practice got underway championship leader Bradley Ray set the initial pace ahead of Tommy Bridewell, and the Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha rider was on top ahead of the final ten minutes of the session.

As Ray held the leading position, Jackson had closed to within 0.202s with five minutes of the session remaining with Christian Iddon on the Buildbase Suzuki in third and Ryde and Glenn Irwin holding top five positions.

However, the last runs of the session saw Ryde elevate himself ahead of his rivals and hold the position at the chequered flag, with Jackson in second place and Ray holding third.

Rory Skinner made it both of the Cheshire Mouldings FS-3 Kawasakis inside the top four, edging out Peter Hickman on the FHO Racing BMW and the leading McAMS Yamaha of Jason O'Halloran.

Bridewell was seventh ahead of Iddon with Glenn and Andrew Irwin completing the top ten as Tom Sykes, Danny Kent and Josh Brookes narrowly missed out on the leading ten positions. The top 13 riders were covered by just 0.961s.
