BENNETTS BSB RACE 2: Ray romps to second victory

Monday, May 02 2022

Bradley Ray claimed his second Bennetts British Superbike win of the weekend at Oulton Park, with another superb performance in Cheshire.

From pole position, the Rich Energy OMG Racing star controlled the race from lights to flag, despite having his early lead wiped out by a safety car.

Ray won by half a second, but with a lead approaching almost two seconds at one stage, he never looked under any real threat, and remains firmly in the running for a major cash prize in the Milwaukee Spring Grand Slam.

A late pass on Kyle Ryde banked second place for FS-3 Racing Kawasaki's Lee Jackson, while VisionTrack Kawasaki's Leon Haslam climbed from eighth on the grid to take the final spot on the podium, after a last lap pass on Ryde.

Ryde held second for much of the race but lost ground after the safety car and had to settle for fourth ahead of Jackson's teammate Rory Skinner.

Jason O'Halloran headed the next pack of riders in sixth for McAMS Yamaha, and just held off Christian Iddon's Buildbase Suzuki on the line.

FHO Racing BMW rider Peter Hickman was eighth ahead of Honda's treble Silverstone winner Glenn Irwin, with MCE Ducati's Josh Brookes completing the top-10.

Ray's second win of the weekend means he closes to within a point of Irwin at the top of the standings with one more race to come this afternoon.
