Brands Hatch beckons for Bennetts BSB this weekend

Friday, July 16 2021

The Bennetts British Superbike Championship roars into Brands Hatch this weekend (23-25 July), for the circuit's first BSB event with spectators in more than 18 months.

This year's championship is already shaping up to be one of the most surprising and eventful in recent memory. Who could have predicted that reigning champion Josh Brookes would be languishing down in 11th place in the early standings, with sixth place being his best race result so far? Or that countryman Jason O'Halloran would match his 2020 win tally in just one weekend at the start of this season?

Fresh from taking his first-ever Bennetts BSB win in August last year, Christian Iddon leads the championship after taking another win last time out at Knockhill, and has taken to the podium in 10 of his last 15 races.

Danny Buchan was a double victor in Scotland and is within the top-three in the championship, while 19-year-old upstart Rory Skinner is also in the mix after his sensational Scottish sojourn.

But Brookes has won 10 out of his last 14 races in Kent, and has 19 in total at the circuit, so if he's going to start the comeback anywhere, it's here. Plus, he only needs one more win to steal the Brands Hatch record away from Shane 'Shakey' Byrne. Talk about motivation…

Three headline Bennetts British Superbike races will form the centrepiece of the event, with all riders gunning for the Monster Energy "King of Brands" title too.

But let's not forget that a Bennetts BSB weekend is ram-jammed with action. The three-day event will also feature the ever-thrilling Quattro Group British Supersport and British GP2, Pirelli National Superstock and National Junior Superstock, Honda British Talent Cup, Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup, and the three wheeled warriors of the Molson Group British Sidecars.

Grandstands will also be operating at a normal capacity, with four different locations on offer, and priced from £8. Visitors can also choose to watch the action from the comfort of their own car, with the Southbank parking area open on Saturday and Sunday, priced at £5 per vehicle.

Hospitality upgrades are also available, starting from £99 per person and offering some of the best views in the house.

Spectators can be reassured that many of our Covid-19 protocols will remain in place, including enhanced cleaning and hand sanitisation stations around the venue. And Brands Hatch is one of the largest spectator sporting facilities in the UK, with acres of open-air space for viewing all around the perimeter of the track.

Tickets for the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch are available in advance until midday on Wednesday 21 July, with Sunday raceday tickets priced at £32 for adults, while children under-13 go free all weekend. Tickets will also be sold on the gate during the event. For more information or to book, click here.
