X44's Donington Park Extreme E shakedown: In pictures

Sunday, December 27 2020

It was announced last month that nine-time World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb would partner Cristina Gutiérrez in the X44 team's line-up for the new Extreme E off-road championship.

The X44 team has been entered by seven-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, and it carried out its shakedown test at Donington Park in December. We're now able to share a selection of images from the test.

Loeb and Gutiérrez drove the Odyssey 21 Exteme E car which will be used for the championship's inaugural season in an initial shakedown test at Donington Park in December.

The 550bhp all-electric off-road racer, which will be used by all of the teams in Extreme E's maiden season, was tested on off-road sections of the expansive Donington Park venue in the East Midlands.

France's Loeb is a household name to many, but his teammate Gutiérrez, who shared driving duties at the Donington test brings a great deal of off-road experience to the pairing too, including multiple finishes in the Dakar Rally over the past few seasons.

The test continued Donington Park's association with electric powered motorsport, with the Extreme E test following in the footsteps of Formula E, which has used the circuit both as a pre-season test venue and a logistics hub.
