British GT unveils bumper 2020 full-season entry list

Tuesday, March 03 2020

The Intelligent Money British GT Championship has unveiled a capacity full-season entry of 19 GT3 cars and 16 GT4 cars at its annual Media Day at Snetterton this morning (Tuesday).

This ensures the championship will have a 35-car grid for its seven rounds this year, including its rounds at Oulton Park (12-13 April), Snetterton (16-17 May), Donington Park (20-21 June), and Brands Hatch (29-30 August) ahead of the season finale back at Donington on 18-19 September.

The 19-strong GT3 contingent expands the senior class to its largest full-season numbers since 2014, with machinery from Aston Martin, Mercedes-AMG, McLaren, Porsche, Bentley and Lamborghini confirmed for the new campaign.

TF Sport's reigning champions Jonny Adam and Graham Davidson return, though this time in separate entries as Davidson shares the team's first Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 alongside Tom Canning whilst Adam pairs with Ahmad Al Harthy.

Davidson is aiming to become the first amateur driver to win back-to-back titles, whilst Jonny Adam could break his own record of four British GT titles with a fifth this season.

There is plenty of intrigue in the GT4 class too, including the debut of Speedworks' new-for-2020 Toyota Supra.

Eight McLaren 570S GT4s in that class ensure that the British manufacturer appears in the largest numbers, whilst Audi, Aston Martin, BMW and Ford machinery will also appear on the grid.

Lauren Granville, Championship Manager: "We are absolutely delighted with the interest in GT3, which has surpassed our expectations. We knew just after entries opened in October that the 15 reserved spaces were likely to sell out following 2019's strong season, but the number of GT4 drivers stepping up has been a particularly pleasant surprise. British GT provides an opportunity for young drivers and amateurs to progress, and that's something I'm really looking forward to seeing this year.

"The number of two-car GT4 teams and mix of returning and new drivers also points towards an exciting season. Every team has achieved British GT success in the past so I expect this year's championship to be one of the most competitive on record."
