It’s time to party – Bennetts BSB roars into Cadwell Park!

Thursday, August 08 2019

Bike fans will descend upon the Lincolnshire Wolds this weekend (16-18 August) for Cadwell's 'Party in the Park', the annual visit of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship which promises incredible on-track action and a festival atmosphere throughout.

The 2019 season has already proved a thriller, with newcomer Scott Redding scoring double and treble wins in his first season of Bennetts BSB and topping the standings as the championship arrives at Cadwell Park for the fans' favourite round of the season.

Redding's Be Wiser Ducati teammate, 2015 champion Josh Brookes, is just 20 points behind and always provides maximum entertainment at Cadwell with his high-flying antics on the circuit's iconic 'Mountain' section.  Seeing bikes airborne is one of the circuit's biggest attractions for fans and hundreds will be camped out all weekend, enjoying the racing and off-track entertainment including live music in the clubhouse and campsite marquee.

Away from the track there's heaps to see and do, and the Monster Energy dome will be pumping up the volume with giveaways and rider appearances. The weekend offers plenty of opportunities for fans to meet their heroes, with autograph sessions in the Bennetts Hub and other trade stands including Vauxhall and Claim Your Motorbike Accident, where local favourite Peter Hickman will be appearing on Saturday and Sunday.

There's a bustling trade village to browse, plus displays of motorcycles from the circuit's illustrious past, and a family fun zone with inflatables, bumper cars, quad bikes, face painting and lots more!

The Bennetts BSB Championship battle is heating up us the season heads towards the 'Showdown' stage, when the top six riders will fight for the 2019 crown. Redding, Brookes and Tommy Bridewell are the current top three but Honda's Andrew Irwin scored a maiden win last time out at Thruxton to leapfrog into sixth place.

"We still have five races to go before the Showdown and we are currently in sixth but I am approaching these next races as I have done all season; some will be more difficult than others and we need to be consistent. If you start changing your mentality now that is when you will start going backwards and I am just focused on scoring top six finishes and trying to keep the place in the Showdown.

"Cadwell Park is always a big round for our team; pretty much everyone who works in our garage lives nearby, it is ten minutes from the workshop and so we will have a lot of support next weekend! Winning does make you more confident and it does give you that little bit extra, but at the same time Cadwell Park is a really difficult track. You have to be sensible and it is technical, physical and does sometimes require a bit of a compromise with the setting just because of the characteristics of the track. But I am feeling good, I know I have a great team behind me and we are looking forward to the weekend," he said.

Meanwhile, Louth local Hickman is feeling optimistic ahead of his local round.

"Cadwell has been a really strong round for me in the past; last year I had a fourth and a seventh and I was really ill, so if I can turn up next weekend fit and strong and we get a good run through it then we are looking good for the Showdown. We have learnt a lot, the bike is getting stronger and stronger, and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead at Cadwell Park," he said.

Discounted adult weekend tickets for the Bennetts BSB 'Party in the Park' are £38 online until midday on Wednesday (14 August), with reductions for teens, and kids under 13 go free. Click here for full details and to book.
