Snetterton set for British GT supercar spectacular this May

Friday, May 10 2019

Sumptuous supercars from Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini and more will blast around Norfolk's Snetterton circuit in two British GT Championship races next weekend (18-19 May), kick-starting a busy summer of major national level events for the Norfolk venue.
British GT is the UK's leading supercar racing championship, featuring a thrilling blend of UK sports cars and exotic European machinery. These race-prepared cars are real racing pin-ups, with beautifully sculpted bodywork, and flame-spitting exhausts - they have to be seen to be truly appreciated.

The championship adds a real flavour of the Le Mans 24 Hours to East Anglia's sporting scene, with driver changes, strategy, and plenty of intrigue.

This year's championship is led by Lamborghini Huracan duo Jonny Cocker and Sam De Haan ahead of the Snetterton showdown, from Phil Keen and Adam Balon who pilot the sister car.

Third place is currently occupied by the 'Bentley Boys' Rick Parfitt Jr, son of the identically named late Status Quo member, and Seb Morris who casual observers may remember from his appearances on E4's Celebs Go Dating television programme last year.

TV viewers will also want to keep a keen eye out for Kelvin Fletcher of Emmerdale fame, who is racing an Aston Martin. The show's Andy Sugden will share his GT4 Aston Martin with 2013 Le Mans class winner Martin Plowman.

Other high profile drivers include Danish World Endurance Championship regulars Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorensen, both behind the wheel of the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage, whilst Sebastian Priaulx, son of multiple World Touring Car Champion Andy, is driving a Ford Mustang this year.

British GT is joined on the bill by the BRDC British F3 Championship which has three races of its own across the two days; one on Saturday before an additional two on Sunday. This is the UK's leading single-seater championship and a proving ground for young drivers aiming to achieve the Grand Prix dream.

Recent graduates from BRDC British F3 include McLaren's newest F1 star Lando Norris, so there's a real incentive for these hopeful chargers to show what they can do and put on a good show.

Tickets for the British GT Championship and BRDC British F3 Championship at Snetterton 18-19 May are available in advance from £20 with free entry for under-13s. For more information, customers should call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
