Community Driver Experiences Snetterton Thrill!

Thursday, October 11 2018

Community driver Vic Evans experienced the thrill of his life on a surprise visit to Snetterton circuit last month, thanks to the National Lottery. And ITV viewers will be able to watch what happened in a special 'Big Surprise' film which will be screened on Saturday during The X Factor ad break.

Vic, who has been transporting elderly people for the North Norfolk Community Transport (NNCT) since 2014, was told he would be attending a conference with some of his passengers at the Norfolk circuit. However, on stepping out of his minibus he was greeted with cheers from numerous colleagues and passengers. The father-of-two was then strapped firmly into a Lotus Evora GT4 race car for a high-speed lap of the track, courtesy of Stratton Race Team.

Vic said; "I'm completely overwhelmed at this surprise. I'm just a small part of the team so to be recognised like this is very humbling. I really do feel honoured and blessed to be a part of this project."

"We offer a vital and practical service, but more importantly companionship to Norfolk's older folk, and we have plenty of laughs along the way. Seeing new members who might at first be very nervous, or who, as in one lady's case, hadn't left the house for two years, start developing new friendships and confidence on the bus makes it the best job in the world."

The National Lottery awarded the NNCT for its work in the community with £332,000 in funding through the Big Lottery Fund.
