Terrific truck titans thrill at Snetterton

Sunday, September 09 2018

Four titanic truck races thrilled the crowds at Snetterton today (Sunday), as the annual visit from the British Truck Racing Association came to a close.

Confirming the series reputation for being hard fought, the shares were spoiled across the four races, with Division One races being won by Simon Reid and Terry Gibbon, while Dave Jenkins claimed the spoils in the final contest which saw Division One and Two machines take to the circuit at the same time.

Reid's triumph in the first Division One race of the weekend was a stunner, with Reid finishing just two tenths of a second ahead of Jamie Anderson, with championship leader Ryan Smith just six tenths further behind, having fought up from last place on the grid.

The sole standalone Division Two race of the day was claimed by Luke Garrett, while Steve Powell made amends for yesterday's penalty by claiming class honours in the final combined race.

Racing action wasn't just from the biggest machines in the UK, with the Mighty Mini Championship providing further drama with recovering BTCC racer Jeff Smith taking pole position for the opening race, though Connor O Brien took a victory double.

Even smaller machines were in action with the typically frantic affairs from the UK Legends category, with the Pickup Truck Racing Championship also supplying plenty of entertainment.

With lots of family entertainment around the venue including Monster Truck passenger rides and Mini Monster trucks, as well as numerous free activities, the event was well attended by parents and children enjoying the action in the late summer sunshine.

The next major event at Snetterton is the Petrol and Pistons car show next weekend. Advance tickets are available for £16 for adults, with free entry for children under 13. For more information, click here.
