Record chaser Rea excited for Donington Park WorldSBK

Tuesday, May 22 2018

Reigning triple World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rea could break the record for most WorldSBK wins this weekend at Donington Park (25-27 May), and the Northern Irishman is eager to get going.

Rea equalled Carl Fogarty's WorldSBK career win tally of 59 last time out at Imola, and just one victory at Donington would add another record to Rea's name.

He has every chance of doing it too, his Kawasaki team are unbeaten in five years at Donington, and Rea won the second Donington race last year.

"I am really excited to go to Donington Park especially as our run of results on the ZX-10RR has been improving race by race along with my feeling," he commented.

"Now is the perfect time to return home to Donington where we get to race in front of our true home fans and I will have a lot of support from Northern Ireland. It's nice to go back after a race win last year, now I hope to extend my win tally.

"This weekend marks the first opportunity I have to surpass Carl Fogarty's all time WorldSBK win record. I will have a lot of travelling support so let's hope that's enough to get it done."

To see if Jonathan Rea can break the record at the WorldSBK UK round at Donington this weekend, book your tickets in advance. Tickets are available in advance at discounted rates priced from £28 until 3pm on Thursday (24 May), with special prices for teenagers aged 13-15, while children under 13 go free.
