10 things to look forward to in 2019

Tuesday, January 01 2019

Happy New Year from everyone at MSV! The new season will be here before you know it, so we've picked out 10 things that should help make 2019 one of the best for any motorsport fan visiting our circuits!

A new champion to be crowned in Bennetts BSB?
There will be a changing of the guard in Bennetts British Superbikes this year, with reigning champion Leon Haslam returning to World Superbikes. This could be the perfect opportunity for young guns Bradley Ray and Tarran Mackenzie to to step up to the mantle, but there's also the impending arrival of MotoGP ace Scott Redding and WorldSBK front runner Xavi Fores to contend with. BSB favourites Josh Brookes, Danny Buchan, Glenn Irwin, Jason O'Halloran, Tommy Bridewell, Peter Hickman, James Ellison and Christian Iddon will be right up there too, with up to 30 riders anticipated. With eight rounds at MSV venues, you won't want to miss it!

WorldSBK treble at Donington Park
The Motul FIM Superbike World Championship returns to Donington Park on a new July date in 2019, and that's not the only new thing to look forward to! There will be three WorldSBK races throughout the weekend, with the addition of the Tissot Superpole race on the Sunday morning, while the rider and team line-up is much changed too! Reigning Bennetts BSB champion Leon Haslam joins Kawasaki alongside four time champion Jonathan Rea, while factory efforts from BMW and Honda will ensure there's a four way fight for honours with Ducati and Kawasaki.

DTM descends on Brands Hatch
The world's fastest and most technologically advanced touring cars will return to the Brands Hatch GP circuit again in August 2019. Mighty machines from BMW and Audi will go head to head, while Aston Martin could be in line to join them if a new car, based on the Vantage, is developed in time. Regulation changes mean new turbocharged engines are introduced, punching out 100bhp more than before, making the cars even more spectacular. DTM will be joined by the much talked about W Series, the F3-style category for female drivers, as well as the Lotus Cup Europe and the Formula European Masters for previous generation F3 cars.

Blancpain back at Brands Hatch
Europe's premier sports car category will be back at Brands Hatch once more in May, with another incredible line-up of supercars from Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Audi and more set to do battle in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe on the Grand Prix circuit. A pair of hour long sprint races with pit stops and dramatic driver changes will be the headline act in a dream weekend for supercar fans, which will also see mouth-watering displays from road-going supercars and hypercars and thrilling support races.

Trucks & Fireworks set to sparkle
The British Truck Racing Association Championship will end its season with a bang once more at Brands Hatch, with a heavyweight series of races on the gladiatorial Indy circuit, followed by one of the South East's best firework displays. The season finale always has plenty at stake, so expect to see the champions crowned in earth shattering on track contests, while a full support card featuring racing cars of all sizes will also be in action before all eyes turn to the skies.

Five BTCC rounds at MSV venues
The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship will visit MSV venues five times across the season, and if 2018 is anything to go by, the new season should be truly epic! The season starts as usual on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit in April, with Donington's round following three weeks later. Summer rounds follow at Oulton Park, one of the most popular events of the season and Snetterton, before returning to Brands Hatch, this time on the Grand Prix circuit in October, for the season finale where the champion will likely be crowned.

Five rounds of British GT and BRDC British F3
The British GT Championship is set to be a supercar sensation in 2019, with the GT3 category boosted significantly by the arrival of new Aston Martin and Lamborghini machines, which will add to the already stunning line-up. With further new machines expected in GT4, 2019 is set to be a vintage year for the series, with a top-class driver line-up being assembled. BRDC British F3 will also be back, with another excellent crop of international talent, all determined to make it to F1. The season for both categories starts on Easter weekend at Oulton Park, before heading to Snetterton, Donington Park, the Brands Hatch GP circuit and returning to the East Midlands for the traditional Donington Decider!

Epic Historic racing
Recall the days gone by with superb historic racing at all five MSV venues in 2019. Classic racing will come on four and two wheels, with major highlights including the Oulton Park Gold Cup in August, the Donington Historic Festival in May and Masters Historic Festivals at Brands Hatch and Donington Park. Look out too for the popular Vintage Motorsport Festivals at Oulton Park, Donington and Snetterton.

Super SpeedFest set to stun again in 2019
American SpeedFest VII will bring a super-size flavour of the USA to Kent once more on 1-2 June, with an-all out frenzy of American style racing. Headlined by the sensational NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, this flat-out festival will again feature some of the best racing action of the year, with further action from stock cars, sports cars, single seaters and the frantic Legends. It's so much more than a race event though, with huge doses of family fun including live music, a thrilling Live Action Arena, driving experiences, and massive display areas. 'Donald Trump' was a star guest in 2018, so expect further surprises this time around!

More Donington improvements
Donington Park benefited from a huge range of upgrades in 2018, and more will come in 2019, with the headline being a new spectator entrance into the paddock areas! By the time the new season commences, the main entry point into Donington Park will have changed significantly. Work on the new entrance at the paddock is already underway and will feature more ticket booths, significantly reduced queuing times, and will be attractively landscaped, transforming the entry experience at the circuit.

Of course with events on almost every weekend at our five race venues, there will be highlights every weekend, and the best way to catch the best of the action is by purchasing one of our great value season passes. For more information, click here
