TCR UK Series to be decided this weekend at Donington Park

Monday, October 08 2018

The final TCR UK round of the year takes place at Donington Park this weekend (13-14 October) with the title still up for grabs after Ollie Taylor secured a lights-to-flag victory last time out at Croft in his Honda Civic.

Champoonship leader Dan Lloyd failed to finsh the race after suffering damage to his Volkswagen Golf GTI on the opening lap, and as a result his lead at the top of the standings was cut to 31 points.

The TCR UK Championship is a new breed of Touring Car mirroring the World TCR (formally the World Touring Car Championship) rules.

TCR cars are front-wheel drive, saloon or hatchback performance derivatives of mainstream production cars, powered by turbocharged two-litre petrol engines that produce around 350bhp. So far, twelve different brands have developed TCR cars - Alfa Romeo, Audi, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Peugeot, Opel, Renault, SEAT, Subaru and Volkswagen - with a number of other brands rumoured to be working on developing cars.

Carl Swift returns after missing the season's penultimate event at Croft. His car had been heavilly damaged at Oulton Park, but will be raring to go in his Cupra at his home track, no doubt buoyed on by local support.

The BRSCC will be running this race meeting and will have support races from the Avon Tyres National Formula Ford 1600 Championship, BRSCC Mazda MX-5 SuperCup, Civic Cup, Nankang Tyres BMW Compact Cup, Speed Group OSS Championship and guests HRDC Allstars, HRDC Coombs Heritage Trophy and HRDC Touring Greats.

The paddock will be open, allowing spectators to meet the teams and drivers and take a closer look at the cars in race preparation.

Tickets for the BRSCC meeting featuring the TCR UK Championship at Donington Park are available online for £12 until midday Wednesday, or on the gate for £16 with free entry for under-13s. For more information, please call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
