Local lad Lowes looking for home advantage at Donington WorldSBK!

Thursday, May 17 2018

Derby man Alex Lowes is gunning for World Superbike glory at his local circuit next weekend (25-27 May).

The Pata Yamaha man has enjoyed a competitive start to the season, securing his first World Superbike pole position at Assen, and a podium at Thailand's Chang International Circuit, to lie seventh in the standings after the 10 races held so far.

Lowes enjoyed some of his best World Championship results at his home venue, having scored two podiums at Donington, including a third place last year, and was a double Donington winner in his British Superbike championship-winning year in 2013.

"I'm really looking forward to Donington Park as it's the only time I get to race in front of my home fans and on top of that it's a track I really, really enjoy," he enthused.

"It's such a fun track to ride, especially the section from Redgate down to Hollywood, Craner Curves, the Old Hairpin and through to Schwantz, it is one of the best sections of track anywhere in the world, while the tighter, trickier second part really lends itself to some good close racing.

"It's an added bonus that it's so close to home for me and I love racing in front of the British fans as they're always amazing, and I genuinely can't wait to get there and get the weekend started."

To see if Alex Lowes can grab another home podium at Donington, don't miss out on discounted advance tickets by booking online. Tickets are priced from £28 and are available in advance until 3pm Wednesday 23 May. For more information, click here.
