Goff goes fastest on final Snetterton BTCC test day

Thursday, July 12 2018

Jack Goff posted the fastest time on the second and final day of testing for the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton today (Thursday) as the field continued preparations for the unique 'Diamond Double' round at the end of the month.

Goff's Honda Civic Type-R has been a constant presence at the top of the times all week, and his 1m56.340s effort set this morning was the fastest of the entire two days.

Josh Cook was second fastest in his Vauxhall Astra, 0.268s off Goff's best time, with Jake Hill, currently without a drive after leaving Team HARD earlier this week, an impressive third fastest in the AmD MG, just 0.003s off Cook's time.

Championship leader Colin Turkington claimed the fourth quickest effort in his BMW 125i M Sport, a fraction ahead of Adam Morgan's Mercedes A-Class.

James Cole completed a promising test with the sixth fastest time in his Ford Focus RS, a tenth ahead of team mate Tom Chilton, with yesterday's pace setter Dan Cammish eighth in the new Honda Civic Type-R. Aiden Moffat and Andrew Jordan completed the top-10.

Once more, drivers prepared for the celebratory double length race at the end of the Diamond Double event on 28-29 July with a number of different set-ups, tyre choices and weights, with data gathering being a key aspect of the last two days. The test saw many drivers complete some of the longest runs in recent BTCC history, with more than 2740 laps completed, equating to over 8000 miles!
