Aston Martins continue to set GT pace at Brands Hatch

Saturday, August 04 2018

Marco Sorensen and Derek Johnston topped the timesheets in the second British GT Championship free practice session of the day at Brands Hatch in their TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3. This ensured that the team topped both sessions of the morning, following Nicki Thiim and Mark Farmer's earlier chart-topping performance.

The Beechdean AMR team finished second in the session with another Aston Martin, driven by ex-BTCC man Darren Turner and Andrew Howard, whilst the Bentley Continental GT3 of Callum Macleod and Ian Loggie completed the top three.

The Mercedes-AMG of Yelmer Buurman and Lee Mowle moved into the top five for the first time this weekend with fourth place, whilst Jonny Adam and Flick Haigh were fifth in Optimum Motorsport's Aston Martin.

Championship leaders Phil Keen and Jon Minshaw finished only 10th and will be looking to move further up the order for qualifying as they chase a maiden British GT championship crown.

Behind the leading GT3 battle, the Century Motorsport BMW M4 of Dean Macdonald and Jack Mitchell was the leading car in the GT4 class.
