Don’t miss the family fun at Convoy in the Park

Wednesday, July 24 2019

Convoy in the Park returns to Donington Park on 10-11 August and there's a full cargo of family fun awaiting visitors during this two-day extravaganza of heavyweight motorsport.

The on-track offering is the most diverse of the year, with huge five-tonne trucks set to thunder into action several times across the weekend. Despite their size, racing trucks deliver some of the most intense racing of the year - think touring cars, only a lot bigger!

As well as the monstrous trucks, there's more drama courtesy of some of the smallest vehicles of the year - the Legends Championship. These pocket rockets frequently corner more than three cars wide, and the winner can never be predicted! Look out too for the Pickup Truck Racing Championship, as these machines prove they can do more than just deliver building materials, while further racing comes from Mighty Minis, sports and saloon cars and the Jaguar Series Elite.

But of course this event is famed for being so much more than a race meeting. The weekend is fully loaded with family entertainment, with fun for visitors young and old!

One of the main attractions will be the circus tent, which will offer 40-minute shows on both days with a 'Greatest Showman' theme, while on Saturday evening it becomes the venue for an evening of live comedy. Entry to the circus tent will be free all weekend.

Another major focal point will be the main stage, which will feature kids' shows, a movie screen, food eating contests, awards presentations and live music throughout the weekend.

The musical entertainment comprises a mixture of tribute artists and up-and-coming talent, with acts including throwbacks to Queen, Cher and U2, with bands playing throughout the weekend.

The Live Action Arena on the Tarmac Lake will provide thrills, spills and destruction, courtesy of the Team Maximum Lock Stunt Show, drift truck demonstrations, the ever-popular caravan smashes, and the Red Dragon Monster Truck, which will crumple cars to the ground, with rides available at an additional charge.

Once more, the venue will be taken over by a huge amount of show trucks, with over 1,000 expected to go on display across the weekend, and awards on offer for various categories. There will also be dedicated manufacturer areas including a large area dedicated to Scania, as well as special displays for classic and vintage trucks, USA trucks and custom machines.

For younger visitors, there's even more to see and do, including a funfair, mini monster trucks, Scalextric races, remote control trucks, the Blue Anchor Superstars kids' characters, bush craft skills workshops, an inflatable assault course, climbing wall, and inflatable slide. Several of these activities will be free of charge, while others will have small individual charges.

For older guests, there's the chance to get behind the wheel themselves, thanks to two truck driving experiences - the Taylor's Transport driver training experience in return for a charitable donation, and the Clive Shaw Trucking US rig, priced at £25 per drive.

Tickets for Convoy in the Park at Donington Park on 10-11 August are available in advance priced from £20 for adults, with discounts available for children under-13, while children aged under-13 go free all weekend. For more information and to book, click here.
