BMR retains Subaru backing and signs Proctor for BTCC

Tuesday, February 19 2019

Senna Proctor will join BMR Racing for the 2019 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), with the outfit retaining the official backing of Subaru (UK) for a fourth successive season.

Proctor is no stranger to the BMR family, having previously contested the Ginetta Junior Championship and Renault UK Clio Cup under the team's banner before graduating to the BTCC.

Proctor debuted in the BTCC in one of Power Maxed Racing's Vauxhall Astras in 2017, a season in which he claimed the Jack Sears Trophy. He then remained with the team last year, and claimed an extraordinary maiden win in changeable conditions at Brands Hatch.

Proctor said: "I am very excited to be returning to BMR Racing for 2019, after racing under the BMR banner in 2015 and 2016, I felt the timing was right. When the call came in everything seemed to fit perfectly and it was an easy decision to make.

"I would like to thank everyone at BMR for putting their faith in me. I can't wait to get out testing and sample the Subaru Levorg - I think rear-wheel drive will really suit my style.

"After two successful years in the BTCC, I have found my feet and I am ready for the next step. My aim this year is to win races and to be in with a shot of the title come the last round of the season."

Additionally, BMR confirmed title sponsor Adrian Flux Insurance Services has renewed their contract with the team, alongside the retention of manufacturer backing from Subaru (UK).

Paul Tunnicliffe, Subaru (UK) Managing Director, said: "There's much more to come from our involvement in the BTCC. Delighted though we were with Ash Sutton's epic Drivers' title in 2017, we feel the superiority of the Subaru Levorg really deserves victory in the Manufacturers' championship.

"Senna's signing is the first step towards achieving this goal. He is a fitting driver to represent Subaru in this prestigious championship, and we expect to see him challenging for the top honours from the get-go. We can't wait for Brands Hatch in April!"

Proctor will make first appearance in an official BTCC session as a Subaru driver during the championship's official pre-season launch test on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit on 27 March, before the season kicks off on the same layout on 6-7 April.

Fans can then see the Subaru in action at Donington Park on 27-28 April, Oulton Park on 29-30 June, Snetterton on 3-4 August, and then again at the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit season finale on 12-13 October.
