Aston Martin sets early British GT pace at Donington Park

Derek Johnston and Marco Sorensen's TF Sport Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 topped the opening British GT Championship free practice session of the weekend at Donington Park this morning (Saturday) ahead of tomorrow's championship finale.

Championship leaders Flick Haigh and Jonny Adam set the second fastest time in their similar Optimum Motorsport machine, with Mark Farmer and Nicki Thiim completing an all Aston Martin top-three. 

Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen, who came into this weekend second in the championship, put their Lamborghini Huracan fourth, with the top-five completed by the Mercedes-AMG of Yelmer Buurman and Lee Mowle. 

The GT4 class was topped by Nick Jones and Scott Malvern's Mercedes-AMG, ahed of the McLaren 570S of Finlay Hutchison and Daniel McKay.
