One month until Donington’s heavyweight event of the year!

Thursday, June 21 2018

Convoy in the Park returns to Donington Park for a second successive year in one month's time (21-22 July), for an all-out family friendly weekend of racing and off track festival fun.

Donington's heavyweight event of the year features eight races for Britain's biggest (literally!) racing series, the British Truck Racing Championship, which pitches five-tonne, 1,000 horsepower beasts up against one another for a series of epic duels on a circuit which was the first ever venue in the UK to host truck racing, way back in 1984.

Much more than just racing!
Convoy in the Park is about so much more than the racing! This is one of the most vibrant events of the season with miles of entertainment around the circuit perimeter and on the huge infield, with over 1,000 trucks expected to be on display for starters. Uniquely, every major truck manufacturer has confirmed they will be attending the event, displaying their latest vehicles.

Meanwhile, a separate Show Truck area will display hundreds more HGVs, with many coming from recognised haulage giants, delivery specialists and independent companies, all competing for prizes during the event.

Live Action Arena to get the fans involved
Away from the gigantic static displays, a Live Action Arena on the Tarmac Lake will provide constant entertainment. Here there will be the opportunity for visitors to get behind the wheel, including an iconic American rig and a training vehicle where people can learn to manoeuvre an HGV alongside a qualified instructor.

If spectators would prefer to be driven, then they can hop aboard the giant monster truck that will destroy all vehicles in its path, and that's not the only thing that will be destroyed during the event, with numerous caravans set to be sent to the campsite in the sky thanks to the daily caravan smash displays.

Stunt shows will ensure tyres also get shredded, courtesy of Team Maximum Lock, who will drift and perform inch-perfect synchronised driving displays throughout, while drift trucks will demonstrate that the larger vehicles can be just as spectacular!

Other opportunities to experience high-octane action at the Live Action Arena include drift taxis courtesy of the Flat Out Factory, where passengers will experience what it's like to go fast and sideways!

Hours of live music each day
A number of excellent bands will take to the main stage on the infield as well. On the Saturday there's over 10 hours of music to look forward to from a mixture of bands playing a mixture of rock, punk, 80s anthems and blues, ending with the Rolling Clones, a top Rolling Stones tribute act. Sunday will feature more of the same, with the music ending with the Counterfeit Beatles, one of the world's top Beatles tribute bands.

A big top tent will be on site from Saturday evening, with a trio of comedians starting the action, and almost guaranteed to give the facial muscles a thorough workout! The big top will then host four 40-minute circus shows on Sunday, featuring acrobats, aerialists, speciality acts, magic and clowns. Circus skills workshops for younger visitors will operate nearby during Saturday.

A world championship of a different kind, and circus entertainment!
Away from the automotive action, the qualifying rounds for the Hiab World Crane Championship will be held at Convoy in the Park. The country's finest crane operators will be given the opportunity to showcase their skills and measure their abilities against their peers, as they aim to move water cans along a predefined path in the shortest amount of time possible.

With a funfair, truck simulator, giant Scalextric set, mini monster trucks, remote control trucks, large shopping villages and trade areas, and much more, Convoy in the Park offers the ultimate in family entertainment; with children aged under-13 going free all weekend!

Adult tickets for Convoy in the Park are available in advance until midday on Thursday 19 July, priced from just £20 per day or £30 for the full two-day weekend. Discounted rates are also available for children aged 13-15. For more information or to book, click here
