Ray back on form to claim Cadwell pole

Saturday, August 18 2018

Bradley Ray shook off his recent Bennetts British Superbike Championship doldrums to claim pole for tomorrow's race one at Cadwell's 'Party in the Park'.

Ray, who won the first two races of the 2018 season at a rain-soaked Donington Park, admits Cadwell isn't his favourite circuit but puts today's qualifying result down to his relaxed attitude this weekend.

"The last few rounds have been very, very difficult and I've been trying, trying, trying to push on and get the best results we can, and maybe pushing on too much and putting too much pressure on myself," he said.

"I've come into this weekend quite chilled and it seems to be working at the moment, hopefully we'll go back to our old self that we were at Donington and Brands and the team has been working really hard to find the problem we've been having with the bike. To get pole here is amazing considering it's not one of my favourite tracks. It's really, really good and obviously it makes the race a lot easier to start from pole and get up in the front group so it should be a close, interesting race tomorrow."

Championship leader Leon Haslam is second on the grid with Jake Dixon completing the front row after a close qualifying session in which the top nine were separated by less than a second.
