Haslam reigns supreme as Cadwell’s ‘King of the Mountain’

Sunday, August 19 2018

'Pocket Rocket' Leon Haslam's experience shone through at Cadwell Park today with a double victory in two thrilling Bennetts British Superbike Championship races to be named 'King of the Mountain' at the 2018 'Party in the Park'.

Haslam added to his points tally with two solid performances on the challenging Lincolnshire Wolds circuit - but it wasn't only the championship leader who scored a double. Bradley Ray and Jake Dixon finished second and third twice-over for vital podium finishes.

Haslam and Dixon's podiums meant they could celebrate securing places in the crucial final Showdown six. Dixon said: "Obviously I'm happy to secure myself in there, now I can just think about just getting podium credits."

Ray recovered his winning form this weekend after a spell of disappointing performances and said it was good to be on the podium and picking up Showdown points. "It's so nice to be back on the podium and to be up with the front boys again and having a feeling for my bike that I'm comfortable with and can push with the front boys, I'm so happy about that," he said.

For Haslam it was déjà vu - his third double-winning weekend at Cadwell Park, a circuit that he seems to have mastered. "It's quite a narrow circuit and you really have to be aggressive with the bike, you know you have to be quite accurate with the way you need to be because it's such a narrow track. I've just always enjoyed it, controlled aggression as they say and it seems to work out," he said.

The Bennetts British Superbike Championship visits Silverstone next before returning to Oulton Park for the opening round of the Showdown on 14-15-16 September. Adult weekend tickets are £37 with discounts for teens (13-15) and kids under 13 go free - click here to book!
