Aston Martin and Lamborghini drivers share Snetterton GT poles

Saturday, May 27 2017

Aston Martin and Lamborghini shared the spoils in British GT Championship qualifying at Snetterton today (Saturday), ahead of tomorrow's two rounds of the supercar series on the Norfolk circuit.

The Macmillan AMR team ended the Am session on pole after Jack Mitchell qualified the team's Aston Martin Vantage ahead of Jon Minshaw's Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan, however Minshaw's team-mate Phil Keen turned the tables to top the Pro session, which sets the grid for Sunday's second race.

Minshaw and Keen have an enviable record at Snetterton, having dominated last year's rounds and having also topped both practice sessions, will be favourites to do so again as they continue their fine title run. However, Barwell team-mate Sam Todoff will be keen to take his debut British GT win on a track where he has won in the BTCC, Porsche Carrera Cup and Renault Clio Cup. He qualified his Huracan on the front row, ahead of reigning champion Jonny Adam's TF Sport Aston Martin.

Also performing well were the Team Parker Bentley Continental or Rick Parfitt and Seb Morris, which took third in Am and fourth in Pro.

In GT4, Ginetta and McLaren took a pole position apiece, Alex Reed topping the Am session for Lanan Racing, whilst Joe Osborne headed Pro in the Tolman Motorsport McLaren 570S. The top five in both sessions was dominated by the two British marques.

The first of tomorrow's two British GT races will take place at 11.40am, following a ten-minute warm-up session at 9.30am.
