BTCC's Tom Ingram confident of a revival at Snetterton

Sunday, July 23 2017

Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship title contender Tom Ingram is aiming to banish his recent spell of misfortune at Snetterton next weekend (29/30 July).

The Speedworks ace lost the title lead at Oulton Park after a disastrous weekend, and Croft was little better. He now sits fifth in the standings, 48 points shy of Gordon Shedden, but is ready to fight back at Snetterton.

"We're feeling fairly confident," Tom said. "We know that we've had a tough couple of weeks but none of the issues that we've had have been in our control, so we know that we've still got the pace and a car that's really strong and quick enough to be at the front, so we're not too concerned, it's just a case of just trying to have a bit of luck.

"It's testament to how good the start of the year was, so we're still leading the Independents' somehow and we're still well in the mix for the overall points as well. It's nice that even with the nightmare that we've had that we're still thereabouts really."

Tom also has the benefit of qualifying with a little less success ballast on his car, and unlike Oulton Park and Croft, the 300 circuit isn't expected to penalise his front-wheel-drive Toyota Avensis.

"I've always gone well here, so it's a circuit that I look forward to coming to," said Tom of Snetterton. "It's not a front or rear-wheel-drive circuit, it's a bit open to both sides, so it means that we can concentrate on trying to get back up and get some podiums and hopefully another win if we can, but we'll just see."

Tom also hopes that the recent group test on the 300 circuit has helped keep the Toyota at the front of the pack. "We've gone through a lot of things and we came here with a totally new car with new stuff and a big folder of all the things that we wanted to try. We knew we had a load of time to find, but it's coming back to where we want it to be. You can't stand still, there's always got to be stuff that you're changing."

Tickets for the BTCC at Snetterton are available from £27 with free entry for under-13s. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
