BTCC's Motorbase ready to win again at Snetterton

Wednesday, July 26 2017

Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race-winning team Motorbase is aiming to add to its Croft victory at Snetterton this weekend (29/30 July) as the second half of the season gets underway on the 300 circuit.

A tough start to the 2017 season seemed to be ending when the Shredded Wheat with DUO Racing-branded Ford Focuses were given an engine boost at Oulton Park. However, lead driver Mat Jackson lost out on a strong result in the third race when his car broke down, and a qualifying crash at Croft sidelined Luke Davenport for the rest of the season.

Nevertheless, the team bounced back on raceday with a win for Jackson and top ten finishes for Martin Depper and a mood of optimism returned. This continued at the recent group test where Jackson topped the opening session.

"Croft was a real turning point in the season so far," Jackson said. "There has been so much work behind the scenes at Motorbase to get back the pace we showed earlier in the season.

"We had an extremely successful test at Snetterton during the break when we were able to test many changes to the car and hopefully we can build on our winning ways from Croft. We have enjoyed great success at Snetterton over the years and really hope that we can start the second half of the season with a bang!"

Team Manager Oly Collins added: "Obviously Croft was a roller coaster weekend for us with Luke's accident and our first win of the season. The performances were our best of the season and now that we've opened our winning account, the plan is to carry on in that manner.

"We turned a bit of a corner with the car at Croft and we're confident that we can carry that into Snetterton. We enjoyed our strongest race meeting of the season here last year, but that's all in the past. You can't rule anyone out this year; such is the strength of the grid and the recent test at Snetterton showed up some interesting results. It's going to be another very close grid again this weekend."

Tickets for the BTCC at Snetterton are available from £27 with free entry for under-13s. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
